Lucha & Love
In Lucha & Love, artist Lindsay Ponce paints masked individuals at various stages of romantic relationships, using Mexican lucha libre masks as a metaphor of the inherent risk of injury that comes with entering the ring of love. Each cinematic scene explores how romantic love becomes its own kind of battleground.
Many works in the series are autobiographical, inspired by the artists' own marriage, divorce, and rebirth as a woman who now accepts that to love deeply is to risk deep pain.
